What is RSS?
RSS is a platform-independent format that is based on XML. It was developed to exchange messages and other web contents. The abbreviation RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (or alternatively Rich Site Summary or RDF Site Summary). RSS files can be read and processed platform-independently.
By using an RSS reader you can read RSS files and therefore keep in touch with the latest updates of a website. However, processing with PHP, ASP or other script languages is possible. Therefore, contents of RSS files can be displayed and read at will on websites, intranets or desktop software.
How to handle newsfeeds
You need a RSS reader which can be downloaded free of charge from the Internet, e.g. at:
